What's On
Pine Creek Gold Rush Festival
The Pine Creek Gold Rush Festival/ NT Gold panning Championship is an annual event we hold in our community to celebrate the history and heritage of our town. It is an opportunity to showcase our many historic buildings (National Trust properties) and not only demonstrate gold panning and damper making; but have the attendees participate in these skills from a bygone era.
The gold panning and damper making has participants from aged 5 to 85- it is a truly a whole family event. As part of the festival, we have an MC and entertainment down by the creek where the daytime activities are held. The entertainment (as quoted) is for live music (Day & Evening), Chung Wah dancers (Pine Creek has a rich Chinese heritage with over 5000 Chinese in the gold fields in the gold rush days), children’s petting zoo and face painting.
The art & photographic competition on the Friday night with $2000 in prize money nurtures and supports creative endeavours to both Pine Creek residents and Katherine & Darwin participants.
