What's On
Submerged
A group Exhibition of Northern Territory Artists
Exhibition Dates till 28 September 2024.
Submerged explores humanity's ties to mysterious aquatic and subterranean realms, contemplating our human connection to the mysteries of what lies beneath.
This diverse group of artists, practicing in Darwin and the surrounding region, explore the complex threads that tether us to the depths of our planet’s waterscapes and beyond.
Inspired by a shared love of art making and the practice of drawing, members of this group have been actively meeting, either weekly or monthly, for over 15 years. Despite the transient nature of the Top End, they have managed to sustain the group by welcoming new members and keeping engagement high.
By exhibiting together, participating in community events and holding solo shows, this group have not only showcased their individual talents but also collectively enriched the cultural fabric of their shared community.
Overall, the group has achieved a wonderful balance between personal artistic growth, community involvement and have actively supported local art organisations.
Submerged aims to provide a lens through which to view the beauty, vulnerability, and resilience of the natural world. It also prompts viewers to reflect on their own hidden depths and the wonders that lay beneath the surface.
